Enroll at Capella University and Give Away Your Rights!

Getting shafted by Capella University is not unusual - as noted on this site, it happens all the time. Apparently, enough students have been scammed by the school that they are now running scared. We have just learned that Capella University is now requiring all students who enroll in their "School of Education," or their "Harold Abel School of Psychology" - which has been beset with an endless chain of "Executive Directors" (Deans), and has been unable to obtain accreditation from the American Psychological Association (thank God for that) - or to sign a document stating that they will

"make no claim and take no action against Capella University and
[that they] waive any potential claim against Capella University"

Just as disgusting is that this vile document is also "retroactive" and rescinds any previous promises made by Capella employees and officials. Specifically, Capella is forcing students to sign this document which states:

"No statement made at any time by any member of the Capella faculty
or any other representative of Capella shall be deemed to be such a
representation, warranty, or commitment."

The following clip shows just a portion of Capella's new requirement. The complete document is also available for your viewing pleasure. (Note - this link opens an Adobe .pdf file.)

Capella University makes no representation, warranty, or commitment that the completion of a degree or certificate program will permit the learner to obtain state licensure or certification. No statement made at any time by any member of the Capella faculty or any other representative of Capella shall be deemed to be such a representation, warranty, or commitment. Further, you agree that in the event you are unable to achieve or qualify for licensure or certification in any jurisdiction, you will make no claim and take no action against Capella University and you waive any potential claim against Capella University for responsibility for your licensure or certification. Before enrolling in a program, it is important that you research the licensure or certification requirements of the state or states in which you may wish to seek a license or certificate. You should request from the relevant state agency a copy of the licensing requirements and the application form and then ascertain whether the Capella University program you are considering would satisfy those requirements. Capella’s web site (www.capellauniversity.edu) may assist you in this research. Pages for the individual schools contain a section, Licensure Resources, which provides information and directories. In addition, Enrollment Services staff will assist you by answering questions or referring you to appropriate administrators and staff. We hope to help you make the most informed decisions regarding your educational and professional goals.
